Join our community for female leaders in Sheffield to connect, collaborate, and champion one another.
Mums in Leadership is a networking group for working mums in leadership positions. Whether you run your own business, charity, or organisation (hi, that’s us!) or work in a C-suite or executive role, we would love to welcome you.
We were inspired to create this community after becoming mums ourselves and facing the challenges that come with being female business leaders and mothers. The (str)juggle is real.
We were also inspired by campaigns like Pregnant Then Screwed and learning about the ‘motherhood penalty’ – the loss in lifetime earnings experienced by women raising children – to create a local networking community.
Who is Mums in Leadership for?
As the name might suggest, the community is open to all mums in leadership positions. It doesn't matter what kind of mum you are or how you had your children (whether they are biological, adopted, fostered, step-children, or you co-parent is some other way). It also doesn’t matter what context you lead in, as long as you’re in a position of leadership. It can be in the business or charity sector, government or other organisations.
Mums in Leadership events will…
happen during the day (daytime is the new evening, after all)
are child friendly, you can come on your own or bring your little one(s)
Our events are a space where female leaders who are mums can:
connect with and learn from each other
collaborate with each other and grow their businesses
champion each other, initiatives and organisations working to challenge the motherhood penalty
Who are we?
Hello! Our names are Anna Bollinger and Jodie Marshall, two experienced business and not-for-profit founders. We are the co-founders of Appt and Hope English School (Anna), and Mantle and A Mind Apart (Jodie). We’re also new mums.
Mums in Leadership is a collaboration between Appt and Mantle.
The Practicalities
Mums in Leadership will aim to meet at least once a term, with the first event on the 29th of February from 11 am – 12:30 pm at Sheffield Tech Parks. The next event will be on the 18th of April.
If you’re bringing your little one, we do ask that you remain responsible for them – though we’re always happy to have a cuddle!
Bringing a buggy? Please let us know, and we’ll discuss parking and accessibility.
